Overall about plus 2 units on the day.
Race 2 - Bets were:
No - 12 - Winner St Paul's: ...... 3.6/1.32 units win
No - 8 - Newswire Free: .......... 4.74/0.2 win/0.4 place
Gallant Rock rated on top at $3.05 but we decided to back WSP and have a bit on the long shot Newswire Free. The reasoning being that Gallant Rock might be pressured in the lead and wilt late. This was not to be and Gallant Rock recorded a strong win. We won't oppose our own figures so readily in future. Winner St Paul ran on resolutely for second after copping a bump at the 200m mark. The roughie Newswire Free powered home late and has been running some good sectionals. His turn will come.
Race 3 Bets and Market
Thunderstroke 3.7/1.34 units win...2nd
Everyone's Choice 5.32/0.6....1st @$5
Incredible Act 17.37/ 0.1 w x 0.2 pl......unplaced
I pulled the wrong rein again here. Everyone's Choice won with ease and we made a 0.8 unit profit on the race.
Regency Darling had some excellent speed figures in our database and did not disappoint. Rated a $1.90 chance the Darling won as he liked and we collected @$3.70. A nice overlay.
Placed 2 units on 3 horses. Jumbo Spirit, Level Player and The Sylph. Level Player ran a good race for third. The Sylph with Callan up was desperate to lead and blew up at the 200m, a poor ride.
Super Talent, like Regency Darling had some very strong figures in our database and figured to win. Fitness was the only query. Rated at $2.18 we invested 2.3 units. Super Talent and the other main fancy Happy Surveys ran to the line together, two lengths astern of the winner Amber Dragon. We will follow up with Super Talent at his next outing if the price is right.
