A strong leader bias and the early season hoodoo made finding a winner difficult at the second Happy Valley meeting for the season. A couple of horses that figured well from off the pace early in the program were denied their chance by the bias. The 1650m races again proved elusive as horses resuming at this distance are hard to assess fitness wise.
- Trendiful was a longshot bet that placed and paid $7.80 the place with some outlets.
- Grace Heart was strongly fancied and won with a leg in the air rated $3.50 and $3.80 was easy to get.
Disappointment of the night was the well fancied and highly rated Obliterated bursting through the barriers and then surprisingly being allowed to run. Even more surprising was the fact that Obliterated continued to firm after the incident. The Big O ran as they always do after such a pre-race incident, struggling into 4th. Yet again a leader, Fat Choy Hong Kong was the winner.
