After the Post – Sha Tin Sep 28th

HKSpeedKing was on fire at Sha Tin

Here's how the night played out.

No bets races 3, 5, 7 and 8

Race 1 - The advice was to back Thunderstroke and O'socoole. Thunderstroke ran a nice race and looks a coming winner, finishing a nice third. Online followers through twitter and other outlets were told that Victor Emperor was a good long shot play and his price of $100+ was a tasty proposition considering we rated him at $12.90. Victor was run down in the last stride and eachway punters got in the queue for $20+ place dividends. Victor Emperor was not an official bet, but those players who like to bet the overlays were well rewarded and just missed a huge payout has he was beaten in a photo. -2 units

Top 6 in  our market on race 1

No - 4 - O'socoole: .................... 5.15
No - 5 - Thunderstroke: ........... 7.12 3rd ($15/$3.75 place)
No - 11 - Bornfree: .....................7.67
No - 1 - Bernard's Choice: ...... 10.08

No - 3 - Victor Emperor: ......... 12.92 2nd ($100/$21 place)
No - 10 - Natural Eight: ...........12.92 1st ($15)

Race 2 - The advice was to back Whistle Blower and Winner St Paul's. Whistle Blower had drawn a bad gate and was some risk, but he had by far the best SPEED figure. Winner St Paul's had trialed beautifully had good figures and looked a solid bet. The race caller called WSP first across the line, unfortunately it wasn't to be. He got nutted right on the post by second starter London Master. London Master had tidy figures at its only run. It had to improve a lot to record its first win. Unfortunately it did just that, at our expense. So the first two races were close but no cigar. -2 units Better times were ahead....

Race 4 Jack's Gem looked a standout on speed and  he figured to get an excellent trip with cover just off the pace. things panned out beautifully in the run and Jack's Gem won decisively. Serial runner on Southchina Command also figured well and he did not disappoint running on late for a fast closing fourth. These were our two bets here. Zachary rated on top at $2.80 but went to the post around $2.30, under the assessed odds. Zachary was a risk up against a better class of horse than his previous start and this is what transpired in the run with Zachary missing a place.

No - 5  - Jack's Gem: ............................ 6.18/0.8 units +6units ($7.50-8.50) available

No - 9  - Southchina Command: ......... 8.33/0.6 units

Race 6 - Glacier Blue disappointed us at his first up run. He just ran out of gas at the 200m in a good field. Body weight said he was fitter. He had the best track and distance speed figures in the race and looked ready to produce a big run. Imperial Gallantry also figured well and we were happy to oppose the favourite Happy Agility. Glacier Blue romped in and a winning night was locked in.

Comments Pre-race:

Fave could be a risk here. Will look for value with the 2 and 11. Glacier Blue has run a 114 2U last time. Has run 114 TD. 100 more likely. TD (0.5). Fitter (0.5)

No - 11 - Imperial Gallantry: ...... 6.03/0.82 units (pipped for second @$13)
No - 2 - Glacier Blue: ................. 6.18/0.81 units (+15 units + 24 units depending where you bet)

Race 9 - This race saw another fave we were happy to take on. Athena Baby was only a 98 on speed, was drawn to get a bad trip and this is what transpired. Three wide the trip Athena fought on well but our top rater Winning Instinct saluted at an SP of $6. Top Ace ran another eye catcher running into fourth and he got another entry in the blackbook after that run. Another 7.2 units jumps in.

No - 6 - Winning Instinct: ....... 4.11 (1.2 units win)
No - 8 - Top Ace: ..................... 6.48 (0.78 units win)

Top Three on Our figures)

No - 6 - Winning Instinct: ....... 4.11
No - 8 - Top A.......................... 6.48
No - 9 - Athena Baby: .............. 7.6 (unders at $2.50)

Race 10 - We had one unit invested on a few long shots and got a good run for out money from $100 chance Sezchuan Vigour leading them a merry dance until the 5o metre mark. Universal Union ran on well into third. The winner, Winning Leader was well in our market but not at backable odds.

No - 13 - Universal Union: ....... 10.15 (0.5 units)

No - 14 - Marvel Tribe: ....... 16.45 (0.3 units)
